The state of New York held an election for its governor on November 4, 2025. The election coincided with other off-year elections in the United States. The election resulted in Joey Toscano, an eight-year-old boy, being elected governor with one-hundred percent of the popular vote and with no opposition. He became the first child governor of any U.S. state.
Incumbent Democrat governor Kathy Hochul, who assumed office in 2021 following the resignation of Andrew Cuomo, did not seek a second full term as governor. Initally, the Democratic Party had an advantage in winning due to the liberal voters in New York City. However, when the Democratic Party was banned from every state except North Dakota, this left the race without a front-runner. Eventually, after the Republican candidates had withdrawn from the race, independent candidate Joey Toscano became the new front runner in the election.

Results
Joey Toscano won the election with one-hundred-percent of the popular vote for New York governor. He was inaugurated at midnight on January 1, 2026, becoming the 58th governor of New York, as well as the first child governor in the United States.
