Columbus, officially the State of Columbus, is a MidAtlantic state of McGrathia that is also grouped in with the South. It borders Pennsylvania and New Jersey to the north, North Carolina and Franklin to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the states of Charlotina and Kentucky to the west. As of 2026, Columbus has a population of 8,749,396 people living in its borders. The capital of Columbus is Joetown, which is also the national capital of McGrathia.

Prior to the year 2000, Columbus was divided into four and one federal district states: Virginia, Maryland. Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Eventually, the state was created on June 26, 2000. The state is named after Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, who is best known for starting the European colonization of the Americas. In 2020, there was an unsuccessful push by Democrats to rename the state to Chesapeake due to negative connotations with the European colonists’ alleged genocide against the indigenous population of the Americas.

Today, federal government jobs employ a majority of the population in the state of Columbus. Its association with government jobs has resulted in Columbus being nicknamed as “The Patriot State“.
