One Week Later is a McGrathian animated drama and adventure film written by Henry Nicholson and directed by Zachary Lopez. It is a sequel to One Week, and follows Sergey Petrov and Michael Torres as they try to rebuild their lives after leaving juvenile detention. When a misunderstanding threatens their new chances, the boys work together to fix their mistakes.

The film is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) it was released in both McGrathia and the United States on November 19, 2024.

Plot

One week after leaving juvenile hall, Sergey sits on a park bench drawing in his sketchbook. Michael arrives to the park and Sergey shows him his drawing. The drawing is of the garden that he, Michael, and Jordan were working in during their time in juvenile detention.

Later that evening, Sergey walks home a quietly enters his house. When he enters his house, Sergey’s 12-year-old sister Lena pops out from behind the sofa and startles him. Lena thinks that Sergey got in trouble, but he says the is not.

The following day at school, Sergey is painting in art class The art teacher, Mr. Foster tells him that he has real talent and that Sergey should paint the school mural. Sergey is hesitant due fears that some people do not want him to paint

During recess, Michael meet Sergey outside, but they are then approached by Brandon. Brandon begins spreading rumors about Sergey and Michael breaking stuff, which causes them to walk away uncomfortably. Later that day, Michael is riding his bike in the neighborhood when he notices that his neighbor Talia is working on her garden. Michael decides to help Talia and invite Sergey to help as well, realizing that Sergey love gardening now.

The next day at school, Brandon and two other students look at Sergey’s sketchbook and says that those drawings will end up in a detention wall. Sergey flinches and snatches back his sketchbook from Brandon. Brandon then walks away with a smirk on his face.

On Saturday, Sergey, Michael, and Talia begin making a welcome sign for the garden and a montage of the garden sign being made occurs. After finishing the sign, Sergey and Michael admire it. Then, Brandon and his friends arrive. Talia defends Sergey and Michael and says the they are helping.

Later, Sergey, Michael, and Talia hear a crashing sound from the garden. When they rush back into the garden, they realize that Brandon destroyed their sign and smeared paint all over it. Sergey is devastated while Talia and Michael stand in silence. Later that same evening, the trio is visited by Officer Ramirez. Michael tells Ramirez what happened and he encourages Sergey and Michael to rebuild the sign.

On Sunday Morning, a new sign in erected and the entire neighborhood gathers at Talia’s garden. Mr. Foster arrives and is impressed by Sergey and tells the crowd that Sergey should lead the school mural project. Later that day, Sergey and Michael sit in the park with sodas. Michael askes Sergey if Brandon would ever leave them alone, but Sergey says that it is unlikely and they will be okay. They give each other a fist bump as the credits roll.

Production

After the release of One Week in 2023, Henry Nicholson decided to make a sequel. Just like the previous film, One Week Later was animated in a 2D format by Manitoba Entertainment. This time, voice acting was recorded at Silvercup Studios in the New York City borough of Queens. In the United States, One Week Later was distributed once again by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. In the Republic of McGrathia, the film was distributed by McGrath Pictures.
