With a population of 23 million people, making it the third most populated state in the United States behind California and Texas. The capital of Florida is Tallahassee, the largest city is Jacksonville, and the financial and cultural center is Miami. Other major cities are Tampa, Orlando, Key West, and Fort Myers. The state of Florida is divided into a subtropical climate in the north, and a unique tropical climate in the south. Florida became the 27th state in the union in March 1845.
