A New Last Name is a McGrathian TV show produced by McGrath Television which has been airing in syndication since January 21, 2026. The show was created by Joe McGrath, who is also a writer and executive producer for the show.

Synopsis

A New Last Name follows the adventures of Sergey and Viktor Rutledge, two 7-year-old boys who were adopted by a young woman named Sharon Rutledge. Sergey and Viktor are from Russia and Ukraine respectively. The title of the shows refers to Sergey and Viktor getting the Rutledge surname from their adoptive mother.

In the show’s first episode, the boys couldn’t speak English. Starting in episode two, Sergey and Viktor began to speak English, though it is not grammatically correct. Also, Sergey and Viktor have two different outfits: Sergey wears a sky blue hoodie; Viktor wears a green t-shirt; and they both wear red pajamas with yellow slippers.

Production

The show is filmed at McGrath Studios in Los Angeles, California.

The main cast includes Alexei Petrov, a Russian immigrant boy from Brooklyn, New York, and Oleksandr Shevchenko, a Ukrainian-Canadian child actor from the Province of Manitoba in Canada. The role of Sharon Rutledge is played by Faye Fischer, a longtime character actor from Burbank, California. A New Last Name was the acting debut of Petrov and Shevchenko as well as Fischer’s television debut.
