Stewart Alexis Alexander (Born October 1, 1951) is an American politician and socialist activist from California. He was the 2012 presidential nominee of the Socialist Part of America.
Early Life
Stewart Alexander was born on October 1, 1951, in Newport News, Virginia. His parents were Stewart Alexander Sr., a brick mason, and Ann Alexander, a nurse.
After moving to California, Stewart worked in a Safeway supermarket while also being in the Air Force Reserve. After he was discharged from the Air Force in 1976, Stewart briefly worked for Lockheed Aircraft.
From 1986 to 1989, Stewart hosted a radio show on Los Angeles radio station KTYM. The show discussed the social issues in Los Angeles at the time.
Early Carreer
In 1989, Stewart Alexander ran for mayor of Los Angeles under a communist platform. He lost the election to incumbent Democrat mayor Thomas Bradley.
In 2008, the Socialist Party of America nominated Stewart for their vice presidential ticket alongside the presidential nominee Brian Moore.
2012 Presidential Cammpaign
In 2011, Stewart Alexander announced he would run for president in 2012. He would gain the nomination of the Socialist Party, with Alex Mendoza as his running mate. They lost the election to the incumbent president Barack Obama of the Democrats.
Ever since his failed presidential campaign, Stewart Alexander has never ran for political office again.

As of 2025, Stewart Alexander works as an automobile salesman in Los Angeles, California. He has been married twice and has one child.
