The 2024 Election for president was held on November 5, 2024. The Republican ticket of Russian immigrant Sergey McGrath and South Carolina senator Tim Scott defeated incumbent president Seth Moulton and vice president John Delany.
This election was the first election after the Twenty-eight Amendment lowered the minimum voting age from 18 to 6. It was also the first election in which foreign-born Americans could run for president.
Sergey secured the Republican nomination over former president John Kasich. Sergey’s running mate, Tim Scott, became the first African-American nominee for vice president.
Sergey became the first Republican to win Virginia since 2008, California since 1988, Maryland Massachusetts since 1984, and the first ever Republican to carry the District of Columbia. Moulton also became the first Democrat to win Utah and Oklahoma since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.
