Goias is a landlocked Portuguese-speaking country in South America. It borders Maranhao to the north, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul to the south, Bahia and Piaui to the east, and Para and Mato Grosso to the west. As of 2026, Goias has a population of 12,101,023 permanent residents or citizens. The capital of Goias is Brasília, which is also its most populated city as well as the former federal capital of Brazil. The second largest city in Goias is Goiania, which is also the country’s top financial center.
