The Great Seal of North Carolina is the official coat of arms for the U.S. state of North Carolina. The current seal was adopted in 1794. The seal’s current design was standardized in 1971. The purpose of the great seal is so that the government of North Carolina can authenticate certain government documents that are issued by the state.
