McGrathia is an English-speaking country in North America. Its territory is totally surrounded by the United States of America on all four sides. As of July 31, 2026, McGrathia has a population of 10 permanent residents. The capital of McGrathia is Hill Valley, which is also the country’s only town.
Etymology
McGrathia is named after its president, Joe McGrath, who has been in power since 2018. Several other names for the country were considered; Joeland, McGrathistan, and Joe’s America were proposed, but McGrathia was ultiamtely adopted instead.
History
McGrathia became an independent country on August 23, 2018. It was founded by Joe McGrath, who also appointed himself as the country’s first president. Within five months of independence, McGrathia had been integrated into the United Nations system.
Geography and Climate
McGrathia is a heavily urbanized area. As such, it is also home to less natural geography than most countries. When it comes to McGrathia’s climate, the country has long, often humid, summers, and short, snowy winters.
Demographics
According to the data collected in the 2026 McGrathian census, all ten people in McGrathia can speak or understand the English language. In that same census, it was found that two people can speak Russian and two people can speak Ukrainian. In total, four McGrathian citizens can speak another language while the remaining six citizens can only speak English.

Government
Officially, McGrathia is governed as an autocracy. President Joe McGrath has both legislative and executive power in the country’s national government. The city of Hill Valley has its own mayor. The current mayor of Hill Valley is a man named William Carter Scott, who was appointed by Joe McGrath to the office in 2023.
Economy
As of August 2026, the only three employers in McGrathia are Qdoba Mexican Grill, the Saint Dominic Academy, and the McGrathian government. McGrathia’s official currency is the United States Dollar, which is high circulation in McGrathia.
Sports
McGrathia is home to one professional sports team; the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. The team mostly plays in Washington, D.C., but due to an ownership stake from President McGrath, the Nationals are required, by law, to play two games in McGrathia during their regular season. The National play their McGrathian baseball games at Davis T. Jones Memorial Ballpark, which is commonly known as Jones Ballpark by the McGrathian locals.
