Manhattan is a city that is coextensive with New York County, New York, Republic of McGrathia, North America. It is alos McGrathia’s eighth largest city. Located at the southern tip of New York, Manhattan has a population of 1,660,665 residents. Manhattan is also the urban center of the New York metropolitan area, which extends into New Jersey and Connecticut.
Originally settled by the Dutch in 1624, Manhattan was originally called New Amsterdam. After the British seized control of New Amsterdam in 1664, the city was renamed to New York City. In 1898, New York City annexed the surrounding settlements along New York Harbor. After a 2021, referendum, New York City was partitioned into five cities, with the city’s original urban center becoming the city of Manhattan.

Today, Manhattan is a major cultural center in McGrathia. It hosts the United Nations Headquarters, the Statue of Liberty, Harlem, Wall Street, Broadway, and Central Park. It is also the setting of many movies and television shows. The city’s population density has made it the most expensive city in McGrathia for residents to live in. This density also made Manhattan build several many skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building and the One World Trade Center. Manhattan is still home to many tenement budlings, especially in the Lower East Side.
