Montana is a state of Joe’s America located in the northwestern part of the country. It borders Canada to the north, and the Frontier to the east, south, and west. Montana is the largest state by land in Joe’s America, but has a small population. Its capital and only city is Joe City. In the western part of Montana, it’s mostly mountainous. In the eastern part, the terrain consists of prairies and badlands.

As of 2024, Montana has a population of 9, most of whom live in Joe City. This small population has made Montana a mostly rural state. This reality is the reason why the nickname of Montana is “The Last Best State”.

Etymology

The name of Montana is derived from montaña, the Spanish word for mountain.

History

Montana was the first state to achieve statehood in Joe’s America, doing so on July 27, 2018. Prior to this, the entirety of Joe’s America was in limbo as there were no states.

For the first 2 months of statehood, the state did not have any elected government as the provisional government was appointed by president Joe McGrath. The first elected governor of Montana was Connor Jackson, who was elected in 2018 and served until 2022.

In 2023, the permanent capital of Joe’s America moved to Joe City, the state capital of Montana. This replaced San Guillermo as the national capital.
